Toros del Este start their preparation for the 2026-2027 season with intensity
The Francisco A. Micheli Stadium in La Romana dressed up this Monday to host the start of the Toros del Este’s preseason training. With an initial attendance of nearly 20 players, including established figures and new prospects, the bull franchise began its journey toward the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) championship, which is scheduled to begin on October 16th.
The work sessions were supervised by Brayan Peña, who serves as bench coach. The technical direction remains under the expectation of manager Víctor Estévez, who is currently fulfilling professional commitments with the Washington Nationals in Major League Baseball.
New talent and experience on the field
One of the highlights of the day was the presence of slugger Jhonkensy Noel, who reaffirmed his commitment to the organization by expressing his intention to remain active with the team throughout the winter calendar. Likewise, experience was present with the arrival of key players such as Wendell Rijo, Carlos Castro, and Engel Beltré, fundamental pieces in the Toros’ scheme.
The Toros del Este management was also able to observe the new acquisitions up close. Among them, catcher Julio E. Rodríguez, who joined the club through free agency, and the arm of right-hander Phillips Valdez, who also joined under the same modality. For his part, left-hander Reymin Guduán, a recent acquisition via trade from the Gigantes del Cibao, completed his first day of practice with his new home.
The Toros del Este seek to consolidate a competitive roster that combines the experience of their veterans with the drive of new additions to face the challenge of the 2026-2027 season.
