Shane van Gisbergen Secures His Future with Trackhouse Racing
New Zealand driver Shane van Gisbergen has signed a multi-year contract extension with Trackhouse Racing, following his successful debut season in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. The team announced on Friday that the runner, originally from Auckland, New Zealand, will continue with the team “in the years to come.” No further details about the terms of the agreement were revealed. Van Gisbergen, with wins from pole position in Mexico City, Chicago, and Sonoma Raceway, has secured fourth place in the 2025 playoffs, with three races remaining in the regular season. After winning three championships in the Australian-based Supercars series, van Gisbergen was hired by Trackhouse two years ago as part of its Project 91 program, designed to showcase international drivers in NASCAR’s premier series. In the first Chicago street race in July 2023, van Gisbergen became the first driver to win in his Cup debut since Johnny Rutherford in 1963. Van Gisbergen moved to NASCAR last year and reached the Xfinity Series playoffs with two wins for Kaulig Racing. This year, he moved up to the Cup with Trackhouse in the No. 88 Chevrolet and became the foreign-born driver with the most wins in NASCAR history. In Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen International, van Gisbergen will look to join Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon as the only drivers with four consecutive wins on road or street courses.I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home.

The driver of the No. 1 Chevy, Ross Chastain, and van Gisbergen are under contract for 2026, but Trackhouse has not yet announced who will drive its third car, as Daniel Suárez will leave the No. 99 Chevrolet after the season. The Xfinity Series points leader, Connor Zilisch, with five wins for JR Motorsports, will make his fourth Cup start on Sunday for Trackhouse Racing and has been mentioned as a prime candidate to take Suárez’s seat.We are witnessing one of the superstars of motorsports. What we ask him to do entails a high degree of difficulty. He moved to the other side of the world, learned a new way of racing and, at times, dominated the competition. He is one of the greatest.
