CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Spire Motorsports has announced the long-term contract extension with Carson Hocevar, securing his stay in the No. 77 Chevrolet “in the coming decade.” The specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but it is estimated that the 2024 Series Cup Rookie of the Year will remain with the organization for at least the next four seasons. Hocevar, 23 years old and from Michigan, achieved the first pole position of his career in the Cup Series last year, and his nine top-ten finishes included two second places. Despite finishing in 23rd place overall, his performance throughout the season was notable. Spire Motorsports is majority-owned by TWG Motorsports, which also owns Andretti Global in IndyCar, Wayne Taylor Racing in IMSA, and the Formula 1 Cadillac team, which will debut this season. TWG Motorsports’ parent company owns the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

It’s an important moment for our company to announce an extension with Carson that takes us several years. Not only is it knowing that he will be with us in the long term, but it also gives our sponsors and the competition group the foresight to make their own plans knowing that he is at the wheel of No. 77 as far as we can see.

Jeff Dickerson, Co-owner of Spire Motorsports
Dickerson joked about the mistakes on and off the track that Hocevar has made, which has been a challenge for Spire as it develops its team around him.

It has been an absolutely rewarding experience to meet Carson and watch him grow, learning from the good and the bad both on and off the track. I love him like a son and it means a lot to me, personally, to know that he will be here for several years.

This year, Hocevar will share a team with Michael McDowell, who is starting his second season with Spire, and with the newcomer Daniel Suárez.

This demonstrates that we are all committed and eager to compete together for a long time. Everyone in the organization has become a family to me. Spire is a very different team now compared to my rookie season, and especially when I debuted in 2023. It’s fun to know that I will be in the Cup garage for a long time, and it really is a dream come true.

Carson Hocevar
Hocevar debuted in the Cup Series for Spire in 2023 at World Wide Technology Raceway, when he was 20 years old. Before joining Spire, he competed full-time in the Truck Series for Niece Motorsports, where he achieved five victories and 34 top-ten finishes in 81 starts. He qualified for the Truck Series playoffs in his three full seasons and reached the championship round in 2023.
