Denny Hamlin Confirms His Participation in the 2026 NASCAR Season Despite Injury

The renowned driver Denny Hamlin has confirmed his plans to compete in the 2026 NASCAR season. This decision comes despite a recent shoulder injury, which was aggravated after an accident while inspecting the damage caused by a fire at his family’s home. Hamlin, who spoke to the media on Wednesday, revealed that he still felt the effects of a labrum injury that required surgery in the 2023-24 offseason. The new injury occurred during the search for debris following the December fire, a tragic event that also left his mother seriously injured. The driver stated that he will not undergo surgery while the season begins with The Clash and the Daytona 500 on February 15th.

So I’ll have to face the rest of the season as I was before. I don’t think it has healed correctly. I noticed some problems, right after the season. It was bothering me a bit. I suffered a small fall at my mother’s house, checking all the debris and stuff, and I didn’t feel well. I had another MRI and tore it again.

The fire, which caused significant damage and the collapse of the structure, occurred at the home of Dennis Hamlin and Mary Lou Hamlin in Stanley, North Carolina. Dennis Hamlin, 75, later died from his injuries, while Mary Lou Hamlin, 69, is recovering and traveled to Florida to be with her family, according to Denny Hamlin. Denny Hamlin, 45 years old, was the Cup runner-up last season. He was also involved in the antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR, which was resolved near the end of the trial in December.
