Austin Cindric Confident in His Future with Team Penske After Father’s Departure

Amid recent changes at Team Penske, driver Austin Cindric has expressed confidence in his position within the NASCAR team.

Cindric, who currently competes in the NASCAR Cup Series with the No. 2 Ford Mustang, is in 12th position in the overall standings. His performance includes a victory at Talladega, marking Team Penske’s first win in the 2025 season.

The departure of his father, Tim Cindric, who was fired by Roger Penske following a scandal in the Indianapolis 500 qualifying, sparked speculation about the impact on the young driver’s career.

However, Cindric has assured that his future with the team is not in doubt.

Your support has always been very strong and also very transparent. When I haven’t performed at my best, we’ve had those conversations. But apart from that, for me it’s like always.

Penske met personally with all his NASCAR drivers in Charlotte. During these meetings, Cindric did not receive any specific guarantees about his future, but he also did not feel the need to ask for them.

Tim Cindric was one of the three executives fired by Penske after irregularities were discovered in two Penske cars during qualifying tests for the Indianapolis 500.

Penske, owner of three IndyCar teams, IndyCar, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the Indianapolis 500, stated that “nothing is more important than the integrity of our sport and our racing teams.”

Cindric highlighted that this is the best start to the season of his career and believes that his team maintains a good pace after the victory in Talladega.

Cindric stated that his father’s firing will not affect his focus on Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 race.
