Chase Briscoe Secures a Spot in the NASCAR Final at Talladega

Chase Briscoe, a Joe Gibbs Racing driver, secured a spot in the NASCAR season finale after an overtime victory at Talladega Superspeedway. This triumph marks Briscoe’s first superspeedway win and joins him with teammate Denny Hamlin as Toyota representatives in the anticipated final at Phoenix Raceway. Briscoe, starting from sixth position on the restart, overtook William Byron and Kyle Larson, both from Hendrick Motorsports, who were leading the race. Byron, desperately seeking the victory to avoid elimination, lost his opportunity when Carson Hocevar’s momentum was too strong, causing a spin.

Ty Gibbs, an incredible teammate. Honestly, I wouldn’t have won that race without Ty. This is an amazing team effort. I can’t believe I won a race on a superspeedway. I haven’t done it at any level.

Meanwhile, Briscoe had the help of Ty Gibbs, who is not eligible for the championship. Larson, for his part, seemed to run out of fuel, which made him lose positions rapidly. There are two spots left for the championship final, which will be decided in the next race. Larson and Christopher Bell, also from Joe Gibbs Racing, are above the elimination line. However, Byron, Chase Elliott, and Team Penske drivers Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney are below the cut. The race extended to overtime after Chris Buescher, who was leading with two laps remaining, was knocked off the track by Byron, pushed by Hocevar. This incident caused a crash that brought the race to a restart. Todd Gilliland finished in second place, followed by Ty Gibbs in third place and Bubba Wallace in fourth.

Chase Elliott Suffers a Setback at Talladega

Chase Elliott, one of NASCAR’s favorites, suffered a setback in his aspirations to advance to the final after being involved in an early accident in the race. Elliott, already below the cut line for elimination, was affected in a crash involving eight cars on lap 52. This incident forced his team to take his Chevrolet to the garage for repairs, relegating him to the last position. Now, Elliott faces a “must-win” situation at Martinsville Speedway to have a chance to reach the final in Phoenix, something he hasn’t achieved since 2022.

It is what it is, I can’t change it now. All eyes on Martinsville and try to get a win.

Elliott won at Martinsville in 2020, which helped him secure his only Cup title.

Next Stop: Martinsville Speedway

The next race, which will determine the four finalists of the championship, will be held next Sunday at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, where Blaney won last year.
