Chase Briscoe Dominates Qualifying at Indianapolis, Securing Pole Position

Chase Briscoe has made history in the NASCAR world, becoming the first driver to win the pole position in the three crown races of the season. This Saturday, Briscoe took the pole in the Brickyard 400 with an impressive fast lap of 183.165 mph.

His outstanding performance relegated Bubba Wallace to second place on the starting grid.

Briscoe, who has achieved five poles this season, including those of the Daytona 500 and the Coca-Cola 600, will now seek to complete the feat of winning all the crown races in the Southern 500 at the end of August.

This qualifying victory adds to Briscoe’s list of achievements, who leads the season in pole position wins. The race takes place on the 2.5-mile oval of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, on a special weekend for Briscoe, as it coincides with his sister’s wedding in Indiana. Despite his success, Briscoe has not yet won the Brickyard.

Bubba Wallace, with a lap of 183.117 mph, will share the front row with Briscoe. In addition, five Toyota vehicles dominated the top positions, marking the first time the engine manufacturer has achieved this feat.

The classification was carried out after a brief rescheduled practice session, as Friday’s practice was affected by rain.

Ty Gibbs, Briscoe’s teammate, is positioned in fifth place in the standings, solidifying his advantage in NASCAR’s mid-season challenge. Ty Dillon will start from the 26th position. The winner of the challenge will take home a $1 million prize.

Denny Hamlin, winner of last week’s race, faces a significant challenge starting from the last position (39th) after an accident in qualifying. Hamlin seeks to win his first title at the Brickyard and become the fifth driver to complete all the Cup Series crown races. The 44-year-old driver recently signed a two-year contract extension with JGR.

Kyle Larson, the defending race champion, will start from the 13th position.
