Robert Whittaker Seeks Redemption at UFC Fight Night

Former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker will look to bounce back from a recent defeat when he headlines the UFC Fight Night event on July 26. His opponent will be Reinier de Ridder in a fight that promises strong emotions.

The event will take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, according to the UFC announcement.

Whittaker, with a record of 26-8, comes to this fight after a first-round submission loss to Khamzat Chimaev in October. The 34-year-old Australian fighter suffered a dental displacement during that fight.

Before that defeat, Whittaker had accumulated important victories against Paulo Costa and Ikram Aliskerov, which kept him in contention for the title.

For his part, Reinier de Ridder, known as “RDR”, arrives boosted by the most significant victory of his career, a knockout in the second round over Bo Nickal last week. The Dutch contender has a 3-0 record since joining the UFC last year, achieving these three victories in less than six months.

The current middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, does not yet have a date for his next title defense, but the UFC has already announced that he will face Chimaev on a date to be determined.
