Sean Strickland Suspended After Altercation at MMA Event

UFC middleweight ex-champion Sean Strickland faces an indefinite suspension after an incident at an MMA event in Las Vegas.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) made the decision after an altercation that occurred in June.

The NSAC usually suspends licensed athletes until an official sanction is determined at a disciplinary hearing. Strickland’s hearing, scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed.

The incident took place on June 29th at a Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas. Strickland, who entered the cage after his trainee, Miles Hunsinger, lost by submission to Luis Hernandez.

After the victory, Hernandez provoked Hunsinger’s corner, which caused a reaction from Strickland and UFC fighter Chris Curtis as well. A video captured Strickland throwing several punches at Hernandez.

It is likely that the UFC will not schedule a fight for Strickland until this matter is resolved. His last fight was in February, where he failed to regain the 185-pound championship against Dricus Du Plessis.
