Sean Strickland, Suspended Indefinitely After Altercation at MMA Event

UFC’s former middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, has been suspended from all competition following an incident at an MMA event in Las Vegas last June. The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) made the decision to indefinitely suspend Strickland, 34, due to his involvement in the altercation. It is a common practice for the commission to suspend athletes or members of their licensed team until an official sanction is determined at a disciplinary hearing. Strickland’s case was scheduled on the commission’s monthly calendar for Wednesday, but it was decided to postpone the hearing to a later date. The incident took place at a Tuff-N-Uff event on June 29th in Las Vegas. Strickland entered the cage after his fighter, Miles Hunsinger, suffered a submission loss to Luis Hernandez. Immediately after the victory, Hernandez provoked Hunsinger’s corner, which led to a reaction from Strickland and fellow UFC fighter Chris Curtis. A video captured Strickland throwing several punches at Hernandez. It’s almost certain that the UFC won’t announce any fight for Strickland until this matter is resolved. His last fight was in February, where he failed to regain the 185-pound championship against Dricus Du Plessis.
