Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman: Clash of Legends in Boxing

MMA legend Anderson Silva will return to the boxing ring to face one of his biggest rivals, Chris Weidman. This exciting fight will take place on November 14th at the Kaseya Center in Miami, as part of the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis card. The boxing match, scheduled for six rounds in the heavyweight category, will be broadcast live on Netflix as the opening fight of the main card.

“Anderson and his team approached me immediately after the Jake Paul vs. ‘Tank’ Davis fight was announced and said they would like to be part of the event and would like to fight Chris Weidman,” commented Nakisa Bidarian, CEO and co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions.

This fight represents an opportunity for Silva, 50 years old, to seek revenge against Weidman, although in a different scenario than MMA. In July 2013, Weidman knocked out Silva, ending his historic reign of 2,457 days as UFC middleweight champion. The rematch, held five months later, ended with Silva losing by TKO after suffering a serious leg fracture.

“I’m very excited to embark on another battle against Chris,” Silva declared. “We have a history and on Friday, November 14th, live only on Netflix, we are putting another stamp on our chapter together. It will be a show for the fans!”

Weidman, 41, was the UFC middleweight champion for two and a half years, successfully defending his title against Silva, Lyoto Machida, and Vitor Belfort, before losing to Luke Rockhold in December 2015. After a career start of 13-0, Weidman had a record of 3-9 and suffered several injuries, including a broken leg in 2021. Although he announced his retirement from the UFC in January, he signed with Global Fight League and was scheduled to face Rockhold in April, but the fight never materialized due to the indefinite cancellation of all GFL events. The outstanding college wrestler will now try his luck in boxing, seeking to maintain his undefeated record against one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time.

Silva has a 3-2 boxing record, with a victory over former middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. in 2021 and a loss to Jake Paul in his most recent fight in 2022.
