Randy Couture, MMA Legend, Hospitalized After Accident
The legendary mixed martial arts fighter, Randy Couture, was airlifted to a burn center in Kansas City on Tuesday due to injuries sustained in a car accident at a racetrack.
Sources close to Couture confirmed the hospitalization on Wednesday. The accident, which involved a single vehicle, resulted in Couture suffering first and second-degree burns, as well as traumatic injuries and smoke inhalation.
Couture is expected to recover, according to sources.
Couture, 62, planned to debut in the National Hot Rod Association this year. Known for his love of motorcycles, he had begun the licensing process to compete officially.
The two-division UFC ex-champion was inducted into the promotion’s Hall of Fame in 2006.
Couture remains connected to the world of fighting through Xtreme Couture, a professional gym he owns in Las Vegas, and as a commentator for PFL.
