Patricio Pitbull Rejects Fight Against Losene Keita After Missing Weight
UFC featherweight Patricio Pitbull has declined the fight against Losene Keita at UFC Fight Night on Saturday, after Keita missed weight by three pounds on Friday in Paris. Pitbull, 38, made it clear that he would not accept any agreed-upon weight deal once Keita failed. The fight was scheduled on short notice, but Pitbull argued that his younger opponent should have had an easier time making weight than he did, as Keita lives and trains in Europe, while Pitbull resides in Brazil.“He said in an interview that he was faster, stronger, and younger,” commented Pitbull in a video posted on UFC Brazil. “I gave him all the advantages in addition to allowing this fight to take place here in Paris. He drove two hours to get here, so there was no suffering. His weight was low, he reached 165 [pounds] like me.

Keita, 27, was going to debut in the UFC. He offered a public apology for not making weight on Friday. “For the first time in 25 fights, I didn’t make weight, and it had to happen in my UFC debut,” he wrote on X. “I wanted to continue and would have given everything to make weight, but my body wouldn’t. I sincerely apologize to my fans. I will return, as I do every time I fall in life.” Pitbull (37-8) is a former Bellator MMA champion. He signed with the UFC earlier this year and has already fought twice in 2025. He has asked the UFC to reschedule him on their UFC Fight Night card on October 11 in Rio de Janeiro.“I am absolutely sure he didn’t try to [lose weight]. At 9 a.m., he weighed himself, he was over, and instead of trying until 11 a.m., which is the time limit, he was eating baby food. Fuck you, man. If you want to blame someone, blame my opponent”.
