Patricio Pitbull Rejects Fight Against Losene Keita After Missing Weight

UFC featherweight fighter Patricio Pitbull has declined to face Losene Keita at UFC Fight Night on Saturday, after Keita missed the agreed-upon weight by three pounds on Friday in Paris. Pitbull, 38, did not hide his refusal to accept an agreed-upon weight agreement, once Keita failed to make weight. The fight was scheduled with relatively little notice, but Pitbull argued that his younger opponent should have had an easier time making weight than he did, as Keita lives and trains in Europe, while Pitbull resides in Brazil.

He said in an interview that he was faster, stronger, and younger. I gave him all the advantages, as well as allowing this fight to happen here in Paris. He drove two hours to get here, so there was no suffering. His weight was low, he arrived here at 165 [pounds] just like me.

Pitbull continued to express his frustration:

I am absolutely sure he didn’t try to [lose weight]. At 9 a.m., he weighed himself, he was over, and instead of trying until 11 a.m., which is the time limit, he was eating baby food. Screw you, man. If you want to blame someone, blame my opponent.

Keita, 27, was going to make his UFC debut. On Friday, he offered a public apology for not having made weight.

Losene Keita’s Statement

Pitbull (37-8) is a former Bellator MMA champion. He signed with the UFC earlier this year and has already fought twice in 2025. He has requested the UFC to reschedule him on their UFC Fight Night card on October 11 in Rio de Janeiro.
