Alex Pereira Seeks Rematch Against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320
The former UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, will face Magomed Ankalaev in an attempt to regain the title at UFC 320. The event will take place on October 4th in Las Vegas.
The announcement of the highly anticipated rematch for the 205-pound title was made by UFC CEO Dana White through his social media. The pay-per-view event UFC 320 will be held at the T-Mobile Arena.
Pereira, who was also a kickboxing champion in multiple categories and UFC middleweight champion, became one of the most prominent figures in the sport in 2024. However, he lost his belt by decision to Ankalaev at UFC 313 in March.Magomed Ankalaev defeated Alex Pereira to win the UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 313 in Las Vegas.Pereira, 38 years old, is recognized as one of the most decorated athletes in the history of combat sports. He was considered by many as the Fighter of the Year 2024, thanks to his impressive knockouts over Jamahal Hill, JiYí Procházka, and Khalil Rountree Jr.
Ankalaev, from Dagestan, is the favorite to beat Pereira for the second time. The 33-year-old fighter remains undefeated in his last 13 appearances.
In addition to the main event, White announced a bantamweight title fight between Merab Dvalishvili and Cory Sandhagen as the co-main event.
Dvalishvili will seek his third title defense this year, following victories over Umar Nurmagomedov and Sean O’Malley. Sandhagen, for his part, will seek his first undisputed UFC championship.
Light heavyweight contenders Procházka and Rountree will also face each other on the UFC 320 main card.
