Conor McGregor Suspended for Non-Compliance with Anti-Doping Tests
The renowned mixed martial arts fighter, Conor McGregor, has been suspended for 18 months by the UFC’s anti-doping program, Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD). The sanction, which came into effect on September 20, 2024, will end on March 20, 2026. This suspension comes after three “whereabouts failures” in which McGregor did not show up for drug tests on the indicated dates, including June 13, September 19, and September 20, 2024. These failures are considered a violation of the UFC’s anti-doping program.According to a CSAD statement, UFC athletes must provide accurate whereabouts information to be contacted and undergo testing without prior notice. McGregor cooperated with the CSAD investigation, accepted responsibility, and provided detailed information that contributed to the failures in the tests. Although McGregor was not available for testing on the mentioned dates, CSAD noted that he was recovering from an injury and was not preparing for a fight at that time. Due to McGregor’s cooperation and mitigating circumstances, CSAD reduced the standard 24-month sanction for three whereabouts failures to 18 months. Currently, McGregor is in the UFC’s drug testing pool, with four samples submitted in 2025.McGregor did not provide precise information about his location, thus violating the rules established by the UFC.
