Masvidal Wins Legal Million-Dollar Victory Against Fanmio

UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge awarded him a default judgment of over $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, after an arbitrator awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest stemming from his boxing match. Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight against Nate Diaz included a purse of $6 million, plus an additional million if he won the fight. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only an advance of $150,000 and a payment of $1 million.

A referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with the final approval, this matter has been resolved.

However, Fanmio still faces litigation with other fighters. Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after Masvidal’s, claiming a debt of over $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, plus attorney’s fees. This case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia, due to a canceled exhibition match against Rukiya Anpo.
