Jorge Masvidal Wins Legal Victory Worth Millions Against Fanmio

UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge awarded him a default judgment of over $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio. The lawsuit is related to Masvidal’s 2024 boxing match against Nate Diaz. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, after an arbitrator awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest. Masvidal filed the lawsuit against Fanmio in January. In it, he alleged that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional $1 million if he won the fight. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and stated that he only received a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment.

A referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with the final approval, this matter has been resolved.

However, Fanmio still faces litigation with other fighters. Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after the Masvidal case, claiming that he was owed more than $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, in addition to attorney’s fees. That case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia for a canceled exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo, which was scheduled for December 31, 2024. Garcia chose to fight Rolando Romero in May.
