Jorge Masvidal Wins Legal Victory Worth Millions Against Fanmio
UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has achieved a significant victory in his legal battle against the online platform Fanmio. A Florida judge has awarded Masvidal a default judgment for over $5 million.
Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, confirming the decision of an arbitrator who awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest.
The legal dispute originated from the Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz boxing match in 2024. Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging breach of contract related to fight payments.
The original agreement stipulated a purse of $6 million for Masvidal, with an additional million if he won the fight. After losing by decision, Masvidal claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment.
The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with the final approval, the matter has been resolved.
Although this case has concluded, Fanmio still faces litigation with other wrestlers.
Nate Diaz also filed a lawsuit against Fanmio, seeking more than $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, plus attorney’s fees. This case is still awaiting final approval.
In March, Fanmio initiated a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia due to a canceled exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo, scheduled for December 31, 2024. Garcia chose to fight Rolando Romero in May.
