Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez: Absolute Dominance and UFC Title Aspirations

Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez proved he was ready to compete for the UFC championship, solidifying his position with a stellar performance on Saturday. His victory over Roman Dolidze was a clear message of his ambitions. Hernandez (15-2) submitted Roman Dolidze (15-4), ranked number 9 in the middleweight division, via rear-naked choke in the fourth round. This victory, achieved in Las Vegas, extends his winning streak to eight fights. Hernandez did not hesitate to challenge the winner of the upcoming title fight between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev.

I wanted to prove my worth in this fight. I want a title shot. What more do I have to do? This is all I know, violence and war. Give me a title shot and I promise I’ll be the next champion.

The finish came after Hernandez connected with a powerful right hand and an elbow that weakened Dolidze, followed by knee strikes to the head as Dolidze shielded himself against the cage. Hernandez, taking advantage of the situation, secured the rear naked choke from a standing position, marking his ninth submission finish. According to UFC statistics, Hernandez outstruck Dolidze in total strikes, with 108 to 47, and completed 9 of 11 takedown attempts. Dolidze’s corner informed him that he had lost the first three rounds, urging him to seek a finish. However, the 37-year-old fighter was outmatched in all aspects, showing signs of physical and mental exhaustion at the time of the submission. This is Dolidze’s first loss since February 2024 and the first time he has been finished in his MMA career. Hernandez, training at MMA Gold in California, has defeated figures like Brendan Allen and Michel Pereira in his last three fights. Before Saturday’s fight, he was ranked number 10 in the division.
