Terence Crawford Dismisses Ilia Topuria Challenge
After Terence Crawford’s impressive victory, who was crowned undisputed super-middleweight champion, a new challenger has spoken up. However, Crawford shows no interest in this challenge. Ilia Topuria, the undefeated two-division UFC champion, has expressed his desire to venture into boxing. Topuria, 28, is seeking a fight with the three-division boxing champion. Topuria used social media to express his confidence in knocking out Crawford in a boxing ring. Crawford responded by calling him “delusional” and “drunk”. During the night of the fight, Topuria criticized Crawford’s ring entrance with the song “Canción del Mariachi” from the movie Desperado, a theme that Topuria also uses in his cage appearances.Crawford not only ignored Topuria’s provocations, but he called him a “clout chaser” and stated that he is not at Conor McGregor’s level. In an interview, Crawford stated that Topuria is seeking notoriety and that there is nothing to discuss about a possible confrontation. Crawford also mentioned that he has never seen Topuria fight and questioned why the UFC champion did not express his desire to fight when they met at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. Crawford sees no value in a fight against Topuria and rejected any comparison to the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and McGregor in 2017. Crawford asked how much money he would make fighting Topuria and emphasized that he is not at McGregor’s level. Crawford concluded by saying that he has never seen Topuria fight and that both fighters should not be compared.First he calls me a drunk, then he uses MY song. Crawford, whenever you want, I’ll teach you how to dance that mariachi in the ring. And Canelo, I’ll save you a round after him.
