Amed Rosario to the Injured List with a Shoulder Sprain

The New York Yankees have placed Amed Rosario on the 10-day injured list due to a sprained left shoulder, as reported this Sunday. The injury occurred two days after Rosario crashed into the right field fence.

At this moment, I think we should be able to return exactly when the time is right,” Rosario said through a translator before the Yankees concluded a three-game series against the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Rosario, who feels good physically day by day, hopes to return as soon as the established 10 days. To cover Rosario’s absence, the Yankees called up catcher J.C. Escarra from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre. Rosario’s injury occurred in the tenth inning of Friday’s loss against the Astros, while attempting to make a catch in front of the fence on a hit by Yainer Diaz. After crashing into the fence, Rosario was checked by manager Aaron Boone and a trainer, but remained in the game. Rosario, acquired on July 26 in a trade with the Nationals, is batting 3-7 in four games with the Yankees. Escarra, who was on the Opening Day roster, batted .205 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 39 games. He was sent to the minors on July 30.
