Yankees Eliminated: Toronto Closes the Way and Halts World Series Dream

3 Min Read

In an atmosphere of disbelief, the New York Yankees packed their belongings after being eliminated from the season. From manager Aaron Boone to star Aaron Judge, the team believed they had the talent and preparation to go far in October. However, the 2025 Yankees will not advance to the World Series or the American League Championship Series. Their season culminated in a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4 of the American League Division Series at Yankee Stadium. It’s hard to describe. We didn’t do our job, we didn’t achieve the goal. We had a special group, many special players who made this year fun, but we didn’t get the final prize, so we fell short. The Blue Jays, who won the regular season series against the Yankees, stood in their way. Toronto had an 8-5 record against the Yankees during the regular season, giving them the edge to avoid the wild card round. Despite the first two losses, the Yankees came into Wednesday with confidence, fueled by Judge’s three-run homer in Game 3. The team had the advantage in pitching, but they failed to capitalize, scoring only two runs on six hits.

It’s brutal. I’m in shock.

The Blue Jays accumulated 12 more hits, outscoring the Yankees 34-19 in runs and advancing to the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2016. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led Toronto’s offense, while Judge stood out for his postseason performance. The difference was in the support of the Toronto players, such as Ernie Clement, Daulton Varsho, and Alejandro Kirk, who contributed with outstanding performances. In Game 4, Addison Barger, Nathan Lukes, and Myles Straw were also key to the Blue Jays’ victory.

They didn’t fail and they scored, every time they had someone in a position to score. They did what they could to put the ball in play. And they were ready. They were on fire from the first at-bat. It was impressive.

Austin Wells
Boone acknowledged the Blue Jays’ superiority in the series. During the last month of the regular season, Boone believed this team was the most talented he had had in his eight seasons. The team had power, speed, improved defense, and a solid bullpen.

We all thought we were the team to win the World Series. But baseball is baseball. We all know that baseball can change at any moment. Baseball favors no one.
