SEATTLE – The Chicago White Sox announced this Thursday the inclusion of rookie Chase Meidroth on the 10-day injured list due to a contusion on his right thumb, prior to the 11-inning loss to the Seattle Mariners.

Meidroth, who is batting .252 with three home runs, 15 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases, will be out of action without being able to bat for “a few days.” His last at-bat was on July 30 against the Philadelphia Phillies, when he was hit by a Taijuan Walker sinker in the fifth inning.

Additionally, on Thursday, Chicago selected shortstop Jacob Amaya’s contract from Triple-A Charlotte and designated right-handed pitcher Gus Varland for assignment.
