Mike Trout breaks home run drought and nears 400

The Los Angeles Angels star, Mike Trout, finally hit a home run this Thursday night in Seattle, ending a 28-game home run drought, the longest of his career. With this hit, he is only one away from reaching 400 home runs in his career. Trout hit his 399th home run, sending a 3-2 fastball from Seattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Bryce Miller over the left-center field wall to tie the score at 4 in the fifth inning. Although Seattle took the victory with a score of 7-6 in 12 innings.

This was Trout’s 21st home run of the season and the first since August 6, in a span of 125 plate appearances. The player admitted that reaching the 400 home run mark had been on his mind during August.

I was thinking about it at first. But now I’m just trying to take good swings at the ball. I know it’s going to come. I’m not trying to go out there and try to hit a home run. My whole career is about taking good swings at the balls and they’ve gone over the fence.

The home run on Thursday night was Trout’s 56th career home run against the Mariners, four more than any other player against Seattle. This season, he’s batting .235 with 58 RBIs.
