Matt Quatraro Extends Contract with Royals Through 2029
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Royals manager Matt Quatraro has agreed to a three-year contract extension, which will keep him at the helm of the team through 2029.
The agreement includes a team option for 2030, the Royals announced on Sunday.
Quatraro took over the position replacing Mike Matheny after the 2022 season and has guided the Royals to a 224-262 record in three years.
Under his direction, Kansas City showed a notable improvement, going from a 56-106 record in his first season to 86-76 in 2024. Subsequently, the Royals achieved an 82-80 season last year, representing consecutive winning seasons for the first time since the 2013-15 period.
In the voting for the 2024 American League Manager of the Year, Quatraro finished in second place, surpassed by Stephen Vogt of Cleveland.
