Luis Robert Jr. Late Scratch Due to Thumb Pain
Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. was a late scratch from Sunday’s game against the Texas Rangers due to a right thumb issue. Robert, who was scheduled to bat seventh in the order, was replaced. The team made adjustments to the lineup, moving Ryan Noda, the first baseman, up one spot and placing Michael A. Taylor, the substitute in center field, in the eighth spot.Despite having a batting average of .194, Robert had gotten at least one hit in each of the first five games of the White Sox’s tour, accumulating 7 hits in 19 at-bats, including two doubles, a home run, and four RBIs.
Taylor, for his part, entered the game with a .213 average, three home runs, and 15 RBIs. He has played at least 11 games as a starter in each of the three outfield positions for the White Sox this season.
