Brandon Nimmo Exits Game with Neck Stiffness

WASHINGTON – New York Mets left fielder Brandon Nimmo was removed from the game in the second inning against Washington on Wednesday night due to neck stiffness. There was no obvious play where Nimmo got injured. He batted for a double play to end the first inning and had no opportunity in the field.

After that first at-bat, he came up to me and said, ‘I’m having a hard time swinging right now.’ He came in and it’s something he deals with from time to time and usually gets better, but today was not the case.

Carlos Mendoza, Mets manager
Starling Marte replaced Nimmo in left field. Nimmo has a batting average of .254 with 20 home runs and 68 RBIs. He has been consistent, playing in 122 of the Mets’ 126 games as of Wednesday. He has participated in no less than 151 games in each of the last three seasons.
