Alfonso Márquez Headlines His Seventh League Championship Series

In the world of baseball, experience and leadership are fundamental. Alfonso Márquez, with an outstanding career, prepares for his seventh League Championship Series (LCS), taking on the role of crew chief alongside James Hoye. The Major League Baseball (MLB) announced on Sunday the participation of new faces in this crucial phase. Ryan Additon, Ben May, Adam Beck, and John Libka will debut in the LCS, marking a milestone in their careers. Márquez will be present in the series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners, which began on Sunday. For his part, Hoye, in his fifth LCS, will direct the National League matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and the current champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, starting Monday.

Each series will have teams of seven referees, with one team member resting in each game.

In the first game of the American League, Additon will be behind the plate, May at first base, Márquez at second, Marvin Hudson at third, D.J. Reyburn in left field, Quinn Wolcott in right field, and Doug Eddings as the substitute umpire. Eddings will be in charge of calling balls and strikes in Game 2, followed by May, Márquez, Huston, Reyburn, and Wolcott. The National League series will begin on Monday with Libka behind the plate, Hoye at first, Beck at second, Vic Carapazza at third, Chad Fairchild in left field, Mark Ripperger in right field, and Gabe Morales as the alternate umpire. Morales will be behind the plate in Game 2, followed by Hoye, Beck, Carapazza, Fairchild, and Ripperger. Hudson will be the crew chief for the American League in Game 3, with Márquez as the alternate umpire, while Carapazza will lead the National League in Game 2, with Hoye as the alternate. Hudson will be in his fifth LCS, Carapazza and Eddings in their fourth, Fairchild in his third, and Morales, Reyburn, Ripperger, and Wolcott in their second. Alex MacKay, Bill Miller, and David Rackley will be the replay umpires in the Major League Baseball office in New York.
