Mets Send Francisco Álvarez to Triple-A

The New York Mets have made the decision to send catcher Francisco Álvarez to their Triple-A team, Syracuse, as announced on Sunday. This measure comes after a period of difficulties for Álvarez at the plate. In the current season, Álvarez has recorded a batting average of .236, with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 35 games. His OPS is .652 and he has accumulated 38 strikeouts. In response to this decision, receiver Hayden Senger has been promoted to the Major Leagues to join the team.

Álvarez, who was considered the number one baseball prospect in 2022, had an outstanding rookie season in 2023, where he hit 25 home runs. Since his debut with the Mets in 2022, Álvarez has played in 263 games, accumulating a batting average of .223, with 40 home runs and 122 RBIs.

Senger, for his part, made his debut in the Major Leagues this season with the Mets, participating in 13 games and batting .179 in 28 at-bats. The Mets, with a record of 46-31, are currently tied for first place in the National League East standings.
