Mets to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ historic concert at Shea Stadium
The New York Mets will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the iconic Fab Four’s performance at Shea Stadium. The special event will take place on August 15, coinciding with the game against the Seattle Mariners, in what will be “Beatles Night” at Citi Field.
The 1965 performance marked a significant milestone, as The Beatles became the first rock band to offer a large-scale concert in a stadium. A 50-minute documentary, titled “The Beatles at Shea Stadium”, immortalized this unforgettable spectacle. At that time, the multipurpose stadium was home to the New York Mets and Jets.
The celebration will kick off with a performance by 1964 the Tribute, which will be presented in front of the Shea Bridge at 6:15 p.m. ET. The first 15,000 fans entering Citi Field will receive an exclusive replica of Shea Stadium.
The initial launch of the game will be handled by staff members who worked on the famous concert. To culminate the night, a themed fireworks show will take place after the game.
