Mets Bolster Center Field with Cedric Mullins Acquisition

The New York Mets are on the verge of finalizing a deal to acquire center fielder Cedric Mullins from the Baltimore Orioles, according to confirmed sources. Mullins, 30 years old and in his final contract year, is known for his versatility in the field, standing out for his speed and elite defense. His defensive ability was evident in a spectacular catch over the wall in his last game with the Orioles, denying a home run to Ali Sánchez of the Blue Jays. Although his batting average is .229, Mullins compensates with his power, showing an upward trend this season with an OPS of .738 and 15 home runs, in addition to 49 RBIs. Mullins is in his eighth season in the Major Leagues, all with the Orioles. His outstanding 30-30 season in 2021 was a bright spot during a difficult year for Baltimore, and he continued to be a key player in the 2023 and 2024 playoff seasons.
