Marlins Place Dane Myers on Injured List
CHICAGO – The Miami Marlins announced this Monday the inclusion of outfielder Dane Myers on the 10-day injured list, due to a right oblique strain.Simultaneously, outfielder Derek Hill was reinstated from the 10-day injured list, prior to the start of a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs. Hill had been out of action with a sprained left wrist.
Myers, 29, suffered the injury during an unusual slide while stealing second base in the eighth inning of Saturday’s game, where the Marlins defeated the White Sox 3-1. On the season, Myers is batting .337, with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 29 games.
Myers’ evolution in the coming days will be crucial in determining the length of his absence.
Clayton McCullough, Marlins Manager
Manager Clayton McCullough indicated that the team will have a better perspective on Myers’ possible return in the next week or ten days.
Hill started in center field on Monday, batting seventh against the Cubs, after missing 22 games. Before his injury, he was batting .167 with one home run and three RBIs in 11 games with Miami.
McCullough confirmed that Hill, also 29, is medically fit to “play regularly” after completing a rehabilitation assignment in Triple-A Jacksonville.
