Nick Lodolo Leaves Game with Blister
CHICAGO – Cincinnati Reds left-handed pitcher Nick Lodolo was forced to leave Monday night’s game against the Chicago Cubs due to a blister on his left index finger.
Lodolo, who had retired the first five Cubs batters, made a signal toward his left hand after throwing a fastball to Justin Turner.
Manager Terry Francona went to the mound with a coach for a brief conversation. Lodolo went to the dugout and was replaced by Nick Martinez with the Reds leading 1-0.
Martinez got Turner to lift the ball to right field for the last out of the second inning.
Lodolo came into the game with an 8-6 record and a 3.09 ERA. He had won three straight decisions with a 1.32 ERA in his previous four starts.
