Cleveland Guardians Extend Winning Streak to 10 Games

Steven Kwan tied his season high with four RBIs, leading the Cleveland Guardians to their tenth consecutive victory. The team defeated the Minnesota Twins with a score of 8-0 on Saturday, completing a doubleheader without allowing any runs. The Guardians, who have won 15 of their last 16 games, are one game away from first place in the American League Central Division, currently held by Detroit. In the second game of the doubleheader, Cleveland moved within a game of Boston and Houston in the wild card standings. In the first game, they won 6-0, hitting five home runs for the first time since April 10, 2021. After being limited to a single hit in the first four innings, Cleveland sent 10 batters to the plate in the fifth inning. Kwan’s single with an out drove in Brayan Rocchio and Petey Halpin. With two outs, Kyle Manzardo and CJ Kayfus hit RBI singles, followed by a double from Gabriel Arias that sent the ball to the right-center field wall, scoring two runs. Kwan added a two-run single in the eighth inning. Logan Allen (8-11) earned his first win since July 29, allowing just four hits and striking out seven in eight innings, the most in his career. Guardians’ openers have allowed a maximum of two earned runs in 15 consecutive games since September 5, the longest streak in franchise history. Bailey Ober (5-9) of the Twins allowed six runs and eight hits in five innings.
