Giants Bolster OF with Wiemer: Deal with Marlins and Contract to Brubaker

1 Min Read

The San Francisco Giants bolster their roster by acquiring outfielder Joey Wiemer from the Miami Marlins, according to recent reports. In addition, they have finalized an agreement with right-handed pitcher JT Brubaker for next season. The move was finalized on Friday in exchange for cash. Likewise, a one-year contract was agreed upon with Brubaker.

On the other hand, the Giants decided not to extend a contract offer for 2026 to the left-handed pitcher Joey Lucchesi.

Wiemer, 26 years old, joins his fourth team in his professional career. The player has had experience in the Major Leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Marlins. In his debut season in 2023, Wiemer participated in 132 games with the Brewers. This year, with the Marlins, he played in 27 games, where he hit three home runs and drove in 12 runs. The San Francisco team, which failed to qualify for the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year and recently hired Tony Vitello as its new manager, coming from the University of Tennessee, designated catcher Andrew Knizner for assignment.
