San Francisco Giants Bolster Offense with Joey Wiemer
The San Francisco Giants have finalized the acquisition of outfielder Joey Wiemer, coming from the Miami Marlins, in a move announced this Friday. The transaction was made in exchange for cash.
Wiemer, 26, joins his fourth team in his professional career, having participated in the Major Leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cincinnati Reds, and now, the Marlins.
In his debut season in MLB with the Brewers in 2023, Wiemer participated in 132 games. This year, with the Marlins, he played in 27 games, where he hit three home runs and drove in 12 runs.
This move comes after the Giants, who failed to qualify for the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year, hired Tony Vitello, from the University of Tennessee, as their new manager.
As part of this change, catcher Andrew Knizner was designated for assignment by the San Francisco team.
