Harrison Bader Fulfills a Young Fan’s Dream After Home Run Ball Controversy
In an unexpected turn of events following the Philadelphia Phillies’ 9-3 victory over the Miami Marlins, center fielder Harrison Bader had an emotional encounter with a young fan. The meeting occurred after an apparent conflict related to a home run ball hit by the player during the game.
Bader hit a solo home run in the fourth inning at loanDepot Park. Several fans tried to catch the ball, but a man finally secured it and gave it to a child, giving him a hug. Both were wearing Phillies gear.
Minutes later, a woman, also wearing Phillies gear, approached and apparently confronted the man, who then took the ball from the boy and gave it to her.
The videos circulating on social media do not make it clear who initially secured the ball when it landed.
Later during the game, a Marlins staff member gave the boy a prize pack. In the end, the youngster went home with a bat signed by Bader, who met with him outside the Phillies clubhouse after the game. The unusual situation quickly went viral on social media, occurring a few days after another similar incident, where a man took the cap off tennis player Kamil Majchrzak from a young fan at the US Open, generating widespread criticism.
