Jhoan Duran Left the Game After Being Hit by a Batter

Philadelphia Phillies closer Jhoan Duran had to leave the field after taking a hard hit to his right foot during the ninth inning of Friday night’s game against Washington, where his team achieved a 6-2 victory.

Duran, who was not in a save situation after four days of rest, started the ninth inning facing Paul DeJong. On the fourth pitch, DeJong hit a hard line drive towards the mound. The ball hit Duran’s foot and deflected into foul territory, becoming a single.

The pitcher tried to go after the ball, but began to limp as he approached the foul line. After a long examination by the medical team, Duran was taken off the field in the Nationals’ bullpen cart.

Duran, acquired from Minnesota at the trade deadline, has a 4-4 record in save opportunities with the Phillies.
