Max Muncy to the injured list with a knee injury
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy was placed on the injured list this Thursday due to a bone contusion in his left knee.
The injury occurred during Wednesday night’s game, in the sixth inning, after a collision with Chicago White Sox center fielder Michael A. Taylor, who was attempting to steal a base.
Muncy received a throw from catcher Will Smith and managed to get Taylor out. After the play, Muncy fell to the ground and had to be helped off the field, showing difficulty supporting his left leg.
Taylor, for his part, suffered a contusion in his back and also had to leave the game.
The incident took place just before Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw achieved his 3,000th career strikeout against Vinny Capra, ending the inning.
So far this season, Muncy is batting .250 with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs in 81 games.
To cover the absence, the Dodgers called up outfielder Esteury Ruiz from Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he batted .292 with eight home runs, 37 RBIs, and 38 stolen bases in 66 games.
