Dodgers Suffer Losses in Their Pitching Rotation

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed Tony Gonsolin on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow discomfort, adding to the long list of pitchers affected by injuries.

Gonsolin joins Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, and Blake Snell on the injured list, bringing the number of Dodgers pitchers out of action to 14. The team, leader of the National League West Division, activated relievers Kirby Yates and Michael Kopech before Saturday’s game against St. Louis.

In addition, they designated right-hander Chris Stratton for assignment, one day after he rejoined the team.

Gonsolin, 31, made his season debut on April 30 after recovering from Tommy John surgery performed on August 18, 2023. In seven starts, he had a 3-2 record with a 5.00 ERA.

His last performance was on Wednesday, in the 6-1 loss against the New York Mets, where he allowed three runs (two earned), three hits, and three walks in five innings.

Other Dodgers pitchers on the injured list include Luis García, Brusdar Graterol, Michael Grove, Edgardo Henriquez, Kyle Hurt, Evan Phillips, River Ryan, Emmet Sheehan, Gavin Stone, and Blake Treinen. Kopech, 29, had been out of action since spring training due to a right shoulder injury and had a 15.63 ERA in nine rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Yates, 38, had been out since May 17 due to a right hamstring strain. He is 3-2 with a 4.34 ERA in 22 relief appearances, with 31 strikeouts and six walks in 18⅔ innings. Stratton, 34, signed with the Dodgers on May 25, three days after being released by Kansas City. He was designated for assignment on June 2, refused to be assigned to Oklahoma City, and then re-signed with the Dodgers a day later. He has made two appearances with Los Angeles, totaling three innings.
