Cardinals Designate Erick Fedde for Assignment
The St. Louis Cardinals have made an important decision by designating veteran right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde for assignment this Wednesday.
In response to this move, the team has called up rookie right-handed pitcher Andre Granillo from Triple-A Memphis.
Fedde, 32, has a 3-10 record with a 5.22 ERA in 20 starts this season, his second with the Cardinals. He is in the final year of a two-year, $15 million contract with the club.
In his career, Fedde has a record of 33-52 with an ERA of 4.87 in 153 appearances (139 as a starter) with the Washington Nationals (2017-22), the Chicago White Sox (2024), and the Cardinals. In addition, he played in South Korea in 2023.
Fedde was selected in the first round of the 2014 draft by the Nationals, being the 18th overall pick.
For his part, Granillo, 25 years old, has participated in five games with the Cardinals this season, with a record of 1-0, an ERA of 1.35 and a save. He made his debut in the Major Leagues on June 12.
