Cal Raleigh Hits His 58th Home Run and Leads MLB

In a night full of emotions, Cal Raleigh demonstrated his power by connecting his 58th home run of the season, solidifying himself as a leader in Major League Baseball. This impressive two-run hit contributed to the victory of the Seattle Mariners over the Houston Astros with a score of 7-3. The Mariners’ offense ignited early, with a grand slam by J.P. Crawford in the second inning that pushed the score to 5-0. Raleigh, batting from the left side, hit his home run against Jason Alexander’s pitches, sending the ball to right field and extending the team’s lead.

Honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better three-game series. Obviously, there’s a lot on the line, and I give credit to the guys here in this clubhouse. They never blinked and brought the same energy every day, the same focus. They weren’t satisfied after one or two wins, and we finished the job.

Raleigh’s hit came just one day after he surpassed Ken Griffey Jr. to set a new franchise record for home runs in a season, with his number 57 home run. J.P. Crawford praised Raleigh’s outstanding season.

It’s historic. We’re seeing history every day, and we’re surprised when he only gets singles now. It’s not really great.

Raleigh has also surpassed the previous MLB record of 54 home runs for a switch-hitter, set by Mickey Mantle in 1961. In addition, he set a new MLB record for home runs by a catcher in a season, surpassing Salvador Perez’s 48 in 2021. Currently, Raleigh leads Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies by five home runs, who share second place in the league with 53 home runs each.
