Atlanta Braves Secure Joel Payamps for One Year
The Atlanta Braves and right-handed pitcher Joel Payamps have reached an agreement on a one-year contract for $2.25 million. This is another move by the management to keep a veteran member in the team’s bullpen.
Payamps, who was claimed by the Braves from the Milwaukee Brewers at the end of last season, allowed one run in 2 2/3 innings with Atlanta. He finished the season with an overall ERA of 6.84 in 30 games.
Throughout his seven seasons in the league, Payamps has maintained an ERA of 3.41 and has achieved 10 saves. In 2024, he set his personal record with six saves for Milwaukee.
This agreement represents the Braves’ second move in less than a week to secure a veteran right-handed reliever. The team previously re-signed closer Raisel Iglesias to a one-year contract for $16 million.
The Braves have had a very active offseason. The team also acquired Mauricio Dubón from the Houston Astros in exchange for Nick Allen.
