Atlanta Braves Suffers Significant Loss in Rotation

The Atlanta Braves have placed right-handed pitcher Grant Holmes on the 15-day injured list this Sunday. This situation means that all five starters who began the season for the team are now on the injured list.

Holmes, who is suffering from elbow inflammation, was replaced on the active roster by Daysbel Hernández, who was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett.

On Saturday, Holmes pitched four innings in the Braves’ 6-5 loss to the Texas Rangers in 10 innings.

Hernández had been sent to Gwinnett on July 13.

The other Braves starters who began the season are also on the 60-day list.

The injured list includes Reynaldo López, who was included on March 29 due to shoulder inflammation and subsequently underwent surgery; AJ Smith-Shawver, who suffered a strained elbow and underwent Tommy John surgery; Chris Sale, who suffered a rib fracture while fielding a ground ball; and Spencer Schwellenbach, with a fractured elbow.

In total, the five pitchers have made 63 starts this season.
