The Houston Astros have begun to move their pieces in the offseason, securing the services of right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson with a one-year contract valued at $1.35 million.Pearson, 29, split his time last season in the Cubs organization, participating in 11 major league games.In those encounters, he allowed 15 runs in 14 1/3 innings pitched. After spending most of the year in Triple-A, where he recorded an ERA of 2.22 in 38 appearances, he was released in September.Selected in the first round of the 2017 draft by the Blue Jays, he was transferred to the Cubs in July 2024.In the second half of the season, he participated in 19 games. Although he showed promising performance, he failed to establish himself in the team and was sent back to the minor leagues.Known for his powerful arm, Pearson is still looking to firmly establish himself in the majors.In his career, Pearson has a 9-6 record with a 5.17 ERA in 123 games, including six as a starter.
