Foster, a gardener, plays for the Tri-City Dust Devils, a High-A League team in Pasco. Friday night’s game against Hillsboro was canceled.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire Dust Devils organization are with Rio Foster, who was a passenger in a car accident this morning and suffered serious injuries.

Foster, 22, was selected in the 16th round of the 2023 draft, coming from Florence-Darlington Technical College in South Carolina. This season, he is batting .267 with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs, and was named Northwest League Player of the Month in August. The Angels’ interim manager, Ray Montgomery, expressed his support before Friday night’s game against the Athletics.

We are praying for the best, that’s all we can do. Unfortunately, I am working with limited information… what I do know is that this is obviously much more important than anything we are doing here today.

Montgomery added: “I’m thinking about him and his family. He’s a great kid. We had him in spring training. He was a draft pick from a slightly later round, and he’s done some good things. We saw him in spring training, and he was recently named Player of the Month for the [Northwest League], so his career is on a good trajectory.”
