Wyndham Clark Banned from Oakmont Country Club After Incident at the U.S. Open
Golfer Wyndham Clark has been banned from the Oakmont Country Club facilities after an incident in which he damaged his locker after failing to make the cut at last month’s U.S. Open, according to sources. In a letter addressed to club members this week, Oakmont Country Club president John Lynch explained that the decision was made after several conversations with the United States Golf Association and the club’s board of directors. According to Lynch’s letter, the ban could be lifted if Clark covers the damages, makes a “significant contribution” to a charity selected by the Oakmont Country Club board, and undergoes anger management counseling and/or therapy. The Oakmont Country Club, located about 15 miles from Pittsburgh, is scheduled to host the U.S. Open again in 2033.Clark, winner of the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, made a bogey on the last hole of the second round, missing the cut at this year’s U.S. Open by one stroke. He apologized for his behavior the following week at the Travelers Championship.Several of you have inquired about the situation involving Wyndham Clark and the measures being taken in response to his recent behavior. After multiple conversations with the USGA and the OCC Board, the decision has been made that Mr. Clark will no longer be admitted to OCC property.

In the PGA Championship in May, Clark threw his driver and damaged a sign near the tee that displayed one of his most important sponsors. Clark has dropped to 28th in the Official World Golf Ranking ahead of this week’s Open Championship at Portrush, Northern Ireland. He has a top 10 in 19 tour appearances this season.I’ve had many ups and downs in my career, especially this year. I made a mistake that I deeply regret. I am very sorry for what happened.
