Víctor Pérez Joins LIV Golf: The First Signing from the PGA Tour
French golfer Victor Pérez has made history by becoming the first player to leave the PGA Tour to join the Saudi Arabian-funded LIV Golf league. The news was confirmed on Tuesday, announcing his incorporation into the Cleeks team. Pérez, who held a joint membership in the PGA Tour and the European Tour, has three titles on the European Tour. So far this year, he only participated in the French Open outside of PGA Tour tournaments, achieving his best result with a tie for ninth place at the RBC Canadian Open. His arrival at the Cleeks team comes as a replacement for Frederik Kjettrup, who was relegated from LIV Golf for not finishing among the top 48 in the points list.
Pérez, currently in the 108th position in the FedEx Cup and at risk of losing his card, withdrew from the RSM Classic on Tuesday. The Cleeks are led by captain Martin Kaymer, along with Adrian Meronk from Poland and Richard Bland, aged 52.Joining the Cleeks Golf Club for the 2026 season feels like joining the next great chapter in golf, as this club continues to push boundaries, perform at the highest level, and bring energy and fresh vision to the game.
