French golfer Victor Perez has made history by becoming the first player to leave the PGA Tour to join the LIV Golf circuit, funded by Saudi Arabia. The news was confirmed on Tuesday, announcing his incorporation into the Cleeks team. Perez, who had joint membership on the PGA Tour and the European Tour, and holds three European Tour titles, only participated in the French Open this year, outside of PGA Tour tournaments. His best result on the American circuit was a tie for ninth place at the RBC Canadian Open. Perez’s entry into the Cleeks team comes in replacement of Frederik Kjettrup, who was relegated from LIV Golf for not being among the top 48 in the points list. At the time of his exit, Perez was in 108th place in the FedEx Cup and was at risk of losing his card. The golfer withdrew from the RSM Classic on Tuesday.
The Cleeks team is led by Martin Kaymer as captain, and includes Adrian Meronk from Poland and Richard Bland.Joining Cleeks Golf Club for the 2026 season feels like joining the next great chapter in golf, as this club continues to push boundaries, perform at the highest level, and bring energy and fresh vision to the game.
